
Renowned reggae musician Ras Canly has struck gold at the SAMA32 Awards, taking home the coveted Best Album of the Year award.
The musician, whose real name is Phalandwa Funanani Canly, hails from Tshiombo. His award-winning album Foreign Exchange emerged victorious against fellow nominees at the 32nd annual South African Music Awards, held on 15 August 2026 at the Sun City Super Bowl in Rustenburg.
Reflecting on the achievement Ras Canly said the award represents far more than recognition for his music:
“This moment means more than just an award. It represents years of hard work, faith, sacrifice, and believing in the music even when the road wasn’t easy” said Ras Canly.
The victory marks a significant milestone in Ras Canly’s musical journey and further cements his place among South Africa’s celebrated reggae artists.
